Christmas 2012 Dining & Kitchen

Hey y'all! Happy Sunday everyone... not. It definitely has felt like a Monday over here at Home by Ally, haha! But on the plus side, since everyone has been asking... I snapped some photos of my kitchen & dining area for the holidays & Christmas time this year. There is alot I wanted to do but didn't since we won't be here this Christmas. Can't wait till next year... I'll go all out :)
My husband and I went out last night and supported one of the boys he is in charge of in a ballet at our local college. It was the "Nutcracker" and it was really fun! Here is us during one of the breaks. Doesn't he look thrilled? We don't ever get good pictures...He hates pictures... and I don't ever like any of myself! Lose, lose I guess :P

Below is a photo my husband snapped of me working on a desk that will be available soon enough! I have a small annoucement to make...as y'all might have heard on the Facebook page...I will tell you as soon as I can :)

So no need to put it off. Here is a view from our living area of our combined dining & kitchen area. I have obviously moved a few things around like the "EAT" letters got moved to the smaller wall between a powder room & storage under the stairs. They fit nicer here since it's a more narrow wall. I added garland to the top of the cabinets (pre-lit). I love how it makes the kitchen feel cozy, even more so than it already is. I've kept my bows around my barstools, I just love the look. And I've add a few small touches in the kitchen of Christmas.

As you can see, there is my Lowes chandy that I just got. It's simple but I like it. And couldn't beat the price. We had a ceiling fan in here before, remember? I set our new farmhouse table with various table lines I've either made, are from Target or the Dollar Tree. I got the cord cover from Tuesday Morning for the chandy but I'm doing to do a DIY tutorial on that soon enough!

All of my pre lit garland I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I found that they are the most reasonably priced for all of it. The chunky, beige pottery vase is also from Lowe's in their Allen & Roth section and a steal at only $15.00 bucks! I filled it with baby's breath.

I finally found two buffet lamps that I LOVED from Tuesday Morning. They were $25.00 each which were kind of pricey for buffet lamps but they are alittle larger scale than normal buffet lamps which in turn means they can be used in more than once space...score! I love the height, scale and the bases of them. They are a very traditional design yet the appearance is more shabby cottage with a linen shade & distressed bases in gold, dark hunter green, grey and brown.

Here is my 2012 Christmas table settings. The woven placemats are from World Market but you can also purchase them at Ikea. The gold chargers are from the Dollar Tree. All of the china was a great gift from my MIL. The table linen napkins are also from Target's new Threshold line.  The mason jars I already had. They are the wide mouthes which I LURVE way more than the regular ones. I just stole these right out of cabinets. My husband saw this and said, "what are we going to drink out of?" Haha, we do have larger ones as well people, have no fear!

I added small pillar candles from Ikea in each mason for a cute touch. It looks even better when lit at night. The bells that are scattered amongest the table are all from the Dollar Tree as well.

I just love the simplicity of this years table. Lots of neutrals of course...golds, baby blues...browns...You can sort of see my centerpiece in the photo below & above. It is from Kohls and it was only $20! I LOVE IT. It is full of bells also with a candle in the middle and it looks just fabulous at night! The outer burlap is actually a wreath! I just slipped it over it! Cool trick eh? And it's pretty! The table runner is my DIY no sew table runner. You can find my tutorial here!

Here is the bar area. I have to get some more pine cones or mini Christmas trees. They will be going inside of thse plates.

Here's my new buffet this year. I recieved the wood crate at the bottom from a dear friend. It is also full of pillar candles from Ikea. I made the moss wreath myself and yes, there will be a DIY tutorial coming on that as well! The iron basket, o.m.g. I love it! I found it at a cute little store here in Florida. The "JOY" banner I also made myself and they will be in my Etsy store! The basket is full of burlap & fake greens from Ikea as well.

I added a wreath hanging from my window with my "S" from Hobby Lobby in it. Simple. I'm still on the hunt for photo frames for either side of that window.

Hang a wreath from a curtain rod & adorn it with a metal letter. Instant character & charm. And it'll dress up the windows too. Next year, I plan to do garland all on the top of my windows.

So what do you think of my 2012 Christmas dining & kitchen tour? It works for me this year... but I already can't wait until next year!

And here is something my husband and I are working on tonight! Blogging about it later!

I linked up to Home for the Holidays here! Link up your Christmas posts too!

XOXO,
Ally
